Living Successfully – Trying again
'Tis a lesson you should heed:
Try, try, try again.
If at first you don't succeed,
Try, try, try again
- Thomas H. Palmer
Ever so often I meet persons who are unwilling to try again, some having tried once gives up, while others have been trying repeatedly for some time. The question then is how long should we keep on trying, before it becomes an exercise in futility? The answer: it depends. Yes it depends on the “what” and the “how”. What is it that you are trying to achieve and what makes it so important to you? We are more likely to put effort into things, which matter. How we pursue our objective can also determine if we ought to continue trying. For example if in pursuit of the objective we are simply repeating the same step over and over then just maybe it’s time to stop. As Albert Einstein said “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
So here is what I suggest, if it is important keep on trying, learn from each failed attempt and modify the next one, given time you can succeed, after all Thomas Edison made 1000 unsuccessful attempts before succeeding in creating the light bulb.
So try, try, try again but be smart about it.
At Living Successfully Inc. (LSI) we are here to help you succeed.
